As part of the Curriculum for Excellence schools are introducing a new range of vocational courses, which aim to provide skills for work.
This is being introduced for pupils in S3 upwards. This means that pupils in S2 need to be aware of new possibilities which may become available.
A college pupil leaflet has been prepared and issued to all schools for distribution to pupils in S2 to S6 as appropriate.
This is in addition to the wide range of courses which has, for many years, been provided by the colleges.
There is provision for 4th and 5th year pupils who are leaving, as well as courses for pupils with special needs.
The qualifications are 'national qualifications' and these are very clearly explained in a National Qualifications website.
