What is the purpose of this website?
The Department of Children and Families works in partnership with local Colleges of Further Education to ensure that young people have the opportunity to
- learn more about college education
- explore possible vocational opportunities
- follow college courses while still at school
- access college education when they leave school
and ultimately find success in their chosen careers. In order to achieve this the Department, Schools, Colleges, Careers Scotland and Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) each plays a part. They work in partnership.
It will ensure that school teachers and college lecturers have an easily accessible reference to help with planning, delivery and evaluation.

Who are the Partners?
This website aims to provide pupils, parents and carers, as well as school and college staff with all the relevant information. It also links to two other important contributors. Careers Scotland support the career planning process. The SQA oversee the certification process but also provide support to pupils, parents, carers, schools and colleges. Arrangements for pupils with Additional Support Needs can be negotiated individually.

The City of Edinburgh's Curriculum Strategy group proposed a formalisation of the links between the colleges and schools by developing a School College Partnership Agreement.
The School College Partnership Agreement sets out the roles and responsibilities of all concerned. There are some variations in procedures, according to college circumstances, and these are negotiated through the colleges' School Liaison Officers.
Course Provision and Arrangements for Pupil Enrolment through this School College Partnership are detailed on the Colleges page. NOTE: The listing of a course does not necessarily guarantee its current availability
When using this website, start at your page first (pupils, parents, carers, teachers, college staff) and then dip into other pages for further advice or information.
If, as a pupil, you already know what you are looking for then you can look up courses for your year group, using the FIND YOUR COURSE selection boxes. Remember that the next stage is to talk to your school teacher.
There are a number of different routes to work.
Each route helps you to build the skills and knowledge needed for the career you want.
The School College Partnership helps you find out about the best route for you.
It depends on the career you want to follow!
