A Dental Technician is the member of the dental team who constructs appliances, which the Dentist fits into the patient’s mouth. These appliances can range from dentures, crowns and bridges, orthodontic appliances, and facial prosthesis. Technicians work with a variety of materials, including waxes, plastics, metal and porcelain.

Entry requirements Either 4 Ordinary or Standard Grades, preferably including English and 2 Science subjects or equivalent qualifications Those who may not necessarily have all the formal entry requirements may be accepted after relevant abilities are taken into consideration. These include skill in using small hand instruments, artistic ability and attention to detail. All applicants are normally interviewed and given a manual dexterity test. (2008)
